We are a small boat building company situated beside Blakeney Harbour on the North Norfolk coast. The yard nestles on the edge of the well-known National Trust salt marshes, very close to Morston Quay.
The company specialises in the repair and brokerage of traditional style glass fibre dayboats, small yachts and workboats.
Charlie Ward has been building boats in Norfolk for almost 40 years. As well as a wide range of traditional design yachts his company has also built life boats for a number of years, being one of only two yards in the UK licensed to undertake this type of work. Many lifeboats were built for the Ministry of Defence as well as for North Sea oil rigs, large cruise ships and cargo vessels world-wide.
During the past 20 years, the company has developed the well-known Norfolk Urchin, Norfolk Oyster, Norfolk Gypsy and Norfolk Smuggler range of dayboats and yachts. These boats have been exhibited at many international boat shows both in the UK and abroad and to date almost 350 of these craft have been built. The company has had the satisfaction of seeing its owner list grow beyond all expectations in a relatively short space of time.
Always building at the very top end of the market, the yard has established an enviable reputation for exceedingly high quality and immensely sturdy construction, as well as reliable completion dates and a very comprehensive owner back-up service.
The company has also developed a 45' steel sailing barge to satisfy a demand for an extremely stable, sturdy, comfortable, shallow draught vessel for coastal and canal cruising. This vessel (named 'Juno') is available for day charter along the North Norfolk Coast during the summer months (see 'Charter' section of this website).
The company sells boats by relying on its fine reputation as first class builders of the highest quality vessels together with the immensely loyal support they receive from existing owners.
